Navigating Trauma

Navigating Trauma is a scripture-based training programme that delivers community support groups and resources for those affected by trauma.

Scope of work

  • As a newly developed programme, Navigating Trauma required a distinct and appropriate visual identity that would appeal to a broad audience - not just Christians. Although the programme is delivered by Bible Society, this had to be strategically positioned to ensure it felt accessible to all yet could still be recognised by churches and other Christian organisations for the expertise that the Bible Society brand holds.

The logo plays on the idea of navigation - with the symbol of a compass taking centre stage and reinforcing the idea that it is a tool to help to guide you on a journey, rather than a map telling you exactly where to go. Also hidden within the logo and sometimes brought out and used as a standalone icon - is a star, in reference to the Star of Bethlehem that lights a path towards baby Jesus in the Christmas story.

  • Working closely with project managers, writers and editors - we worked on messaging and tone of voice as part of the brand identity. Striking the right tone was crucial - not promising ‘healing’ but inviting people onto a journey into a happier, lighter place. The metaphor of moving from a dark place into a lighter one became a key aspect of both the visual and verbal identity. The slogan ‘Lighting a path through the dark’ became a prominent aspect of the marketing materials at launch.

  • Once the brand identity and guidelines were in place, we started to create marketing materials such as banners, lanyards, t-shirts and postcards to get the word out to churches and other Christian organisations about the programme and to start to form partnerships, train up facilitators and set-up Navigating Trauma groups across the UK.
